Sizing & Selection for Motion Control
Based in the US, Rockwell Automation is an industrial automation company and a global provider of power, control and information solutions. Compro’s engagement was with the motion control business unit.
Compro developed a new sizing tool to replace the previous version of the tool. Compro adapted the technical aspects of Rockwell products and associated generic models to create state-of-the-art, highly functional software which became an intrinsic part of the Rockwell product development process (motion control division).
Key aspects of Motion Analyzer included a sophisticated electromechanical motion analysis engine with advanced product search capabilities. A wide variety of generic and specific mechanical components were represented via their mathematical models and combined with the corresponding models for Rockwell products. The result was a powerful sizing and selection capability - with a large variety of analytical tools - to help users simulate their application and select appropriate Rockwell products.
Compro took more care than I would have expected and succeeded admirably in maintaining the mathematical results of the tools while adding a completely new user interface and many new features.

Compro hat die technischen Gesichtspunkte der Rockwell-Produkte und die zugehörigen generischen Modelle angepasst, um eine hochmoderne, hochfunktionale Software zu erstellen, die zu einem festen Bestandteil des Rockwell-Produktentwicklungsprozesses geworden ist (Bereich Bewegungssteuerung).
Zu den Schlüsselaspekten von Motion Analyzer gehört ein hochentwickeltes elektromechanisches Bewegungsanalysesystem, das erweiterten Produktsuchfunktionen zur Verfügung stellt. Eine Vielzahl allgemeiner und spezifischer mechanischer Komponenten wurde durch ihre mathematischen Modelle dargestellt und mit den entsprechenden Modellen von Rockwell-Produkten kombiniert. Auf diese Weise wurde eine leistungsstarke Auslegungs- und Auswahlfunktion mit einer Vielzahl von Analysewerkzeugen geschaffen, die den Anwendern bei der Simulation ihrer Anwendung und der Auswahl der entsprechenden Rockwell-Produkte hilft.
Compro hat sich mehr Mühe gegeben, als ich erwartet hatte, und es ist diesem Unternehmen auf bewundernswerte Weise gelungen, die mathematischen Ergebnisse der Werkzeuge beizubehalten und gleichzeitig eine völlig neue Benutzeroberfläche und viele neue Funktionen hinzuzufügen.
